Like Echizen Ryoma, Kawamura became a regular this April. Off the courts, Kawamura is very mellow, modest and without hostility. He did not retaliate even after Akutsu Jin, whom he had taken karate lessons with, poured a cup of drink on his head. However, once Kawamura picks up a racket, he switches to his "Burning" mode and his confidence shoots into overdrive, provoking his opponents and spouting random English words. This does not make him a bad partner on the court though. In fact, he once took a damaging return for Fuji Shuusuke. Kawamura plays Power Tennis. His modification on the Hadoukyuu (Dash Hadoukyuu) knocked both of his Rokkaku opponents' rackets off their hands. After graduating from Seigaku, Kawamura plans to quit tennis and concentrate on learning the sushi business so that he can take over his father's restaurant.

Carrying this around is a sign that Taka-san still misses karate. Looking at it must bring back some fond memories.

Although his rigid posture may not look like it, but Akutsu is a natural at tennis, never having to practice to reach his current level. His greatest asset is the ability to change his movements instantaneously. Unfortunately for Yamabuki, Akutsu quit following his defeat to Echizen Ryoma because he felt satisfied with tennis after their match. In striking contrast to his former karate classmate Kawamura Takashi, Akutsu is very violent, stirring up trouble wherever he goes. Students at both Seigaku and Ginka have been his victims. Akutsu is a smoker and his 33-year-old mother Yuuki had him when she was in her teens.

What's between them?

Takashi and Jin met each other since they were 9 years old (Akutsu lived near Taka's house). After beating up all the dojo senniors, Takashi tried to follow Akutsu because he was worried about him.

One point of this relationship is that Takashi is one of the few people who doesn't scare with Akutsu (Taichi and Banda-sensei too), and Jin never punched him seriously (just spilled him coke over the head, but compare this with throwing rocks to Ryoma).

In Hyoutei's Arc, Takashi dedicates his game against Kabaji to Ryoma and Akutsu.
